We’re back and we’re diving in quick to learning this week. Students spent the morning thinking about their year ahead and the kind of person they want to grow into. For most of them, this is the year they start high school, and the choices they make now will continue to impact them for years to come. We looked at who we are, and who we want to become and worked towards choosing a word that will be the cornerstone of who we are becoming. Our discussions in the past few days about this have been incredible.

In math, we started our Fractions unit. We reviewed everything students should have learned in grades 4 and 5, and beginning this week, we will begin to tackle the grades 6 and 7 curriculums. Due to an inside lunch, most students finished their work in class. If not, they can do their final questions at home.

This afternoon after French, we began our Social Studies unit exploring Ancient Civilizations. We looked at the five key learning areas of Social Studies—history, law, geography, economics, and politics—and throughout the term, we’ll be exploring how civilizations around the world have engaged with these concepts.
